Donato Rella

Donato P. Rella, 87 of Union passed away peacefully on June 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held on Sunday June 24 from 1-5 PM at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union, with a funeral service being celebrated Sunday at 4 PM. Cremation is private.

Donato was a lifelong resident of Union. He served his country in the Marines during the Korean War. Later, Mr. Rella worked for Plumrose in Springfield, and Fortunoff in Wayne in their maintenance departments before retiring. A great storyteller, Donato could make his family laugh for hours.

Donato was the beloved husband of 57 years to Eva (nee DaSilva); loving father of Joseph Rella and his wife Pamela, and Annette Vitale and her husband Marco; and dear grandfather of Victoria Rella, Matthew Vitale, Meghan Vitale, Marco Vitale, Jr., Maximillian Vitale and Joseph Rella, Jr. He was predeceased by his brother Tomaso Rella and his sister Rose Lella.
