Demetrius Aberi, 19 passed on December 13, 2023 in Union, New Jersey.
He was born to Daniel Aberi and Lilian Makori on October 15, 2004 at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
The oldest of 4 siblings: Lorraine (16), Darius (13), and Lisah (11), Demetrius took pride in being their protector.
Demetrius’s thirst for education was put on early display when he started preschool at Tiny Love Daycare, Irvington, New Jersey. Continuing into Chancellor Avenue Elementary School (2009-2015), he was always eager to explore new aspects of life and learn more about the world around him.
While growing and maturing, he attended Walter O. Krumbiegel (2015-2017) and Kawameeh Middle Schools (2017-2018).
When he started attending Union High School in 2018, he discovered his passion for architecture. He was a very involved student and he loved participating in Model UN. He always dreamed of building a skyscraper in New York after the completion of his degree. After graduating in 2022, he decided to continue and pursue his dreams at Kean University, which he attended until his last days.
Being a hard-worker, he was an employee at The Red Cadillac Restaurant (2022) and then was currently at Dunkin Donuts (2022-2023).
Demetrius was a huge basketball fan and especially loved the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent his free time watching animes such as Attack on Titan, One Piece and My Hero Academia. He also enjoyed playing games on his PlayStation including Spiderman, 2K, and FIFA. He loved staying up late, talking, and playing these games with his friends.
Demetrius was a devoted Catholic and was an involved individual at St. Patrick's and Assumption All Saints Church. He attended Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes (CCD) from 2017 to 2021, receiving Holy Communion and Conformation. He was an active member of the church community participating in events and always being present during Sunday masses.
Demetrius was a respectful, loving, humble, and kind soul. As we remember and celebrate his life, let us cherish the memories we shared and find comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
