Columbia “Connie” Sara Lodato, a cherished mother, devoted caretaker, and lifelong homemaker, passed away on April 5, 2026 at 88 years old.

Born in Harrison, New Jersey, Connie was a woman who embraced life with both determination and grace, leaving behind a legacy characterized by love, family, and community.

Connie was known for her petite frame but fierce spirit; a sassy and confident individual who consistently took pride in her appearance and presented herself with poise. From an early age, she displayed an innate passion for nurturing others, a quality that defined much of her life's work and personal identity. Her pride in her family was unmistakable and rooted deeply in her role as the best mom, a great cook, and an amazing homemaker. She delighted in creating memorable meals and gatherings, relishing the joy found in watching those around her savor the fruits of her culinary talents.

Joann, Connie’s devoted daughter and caretaker, recalls her mother as someone who started her family in Hillside and married her soulmate at the tender age of 18. Together, Connie and her husband, the late Julius Anthony Lodato, shared a remarkable partnership—true soulmates who did everything side-by-side. Connie was known lovingly within her family as the best passenger princess, always the joyful companion on their shared journeys.

Beyond her unwavering dedication to family, Connie was remarkably active and engaged in her own pursuits. She loved hosting amazing parties, walking, and practicing yoga, activities which kept her vibrant and connected to life’s simple pleasures.

Connie is survived by her loving daughter, Joann (Scott), son, Julius (Monica); her brother, Joseph (late Marie); and her sister, Margaret (Modestino). Her extended family includes nieces Margaret C., Margaret M., and Mary; nephews Salvatore and John; and grandchildren Nicole (Brandt) and JohnJulius. Each family member carries forward a part of Connie’s spirit and the values she held dear.

She was preceded in death by her husband Julius Anthony Lodato; her parents, Salvatore Vitello and Margaret Lofredo; her sister Rose; and her nephew Joseph, as well as her niece Jennifer.

Columbia “Connie” Sara Lodato’s life was a testament to the enduring strength of family ties and the quiet, steadfast power of a woman devoted to those she loved. Her legacy will be remembered through the warmth of her home, the richness of her meals shared with loved ones, and the abiding love she showed to all who knew her.
