Carmen Anthony Milia

Carmen Anthony Milia, 94, of Union, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Carmen at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, on Thursday, July 23, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. James Church in Springfield at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.

Born in Newark, Carmen built a life centered on family, hard work, and lasting friendships. He and his beloved wife, Judy, raised their family in Union, where they lived for 30 years. In 2003, they moved to a 55+ community in Monroe Township, where they enjoyed the next 17 years together. Following the COVID pandemic, they relocated to Springfield, where they spent the past five years.

A hardworking entrepreneur, Carmen was the owner and operator of Century Paving, an asphalt paving company that he successfully ran for many years.

As a young man, Carmen was an exceptional baseball player and even earned a tryout with the New York Yankees. Although he never made the roster, he remained a devoted Yankees fan throughout his life. He also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, where he could often be found at the blackjack table.

Above all else, Carmen's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an especially proud grandfather. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He will be remembered for his love, generosity, quiet strength, and the many cherished memories he leaves behind.

Carmen was the beloved husband of Judy (née Nardiello) Milia; the loving father of Michael Milia (Stefanie), and daughter Donna Milia; and the cherished grandfather of Michael, Luca, and Christopher. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Grace Milia, who immigrated from Sicily in search of a better life, and by his siblings, Josephine, Angelina, Angelo, Anthony, and John.
