Beverly J Anderson

Beverly June Anderson was born June 18, 1934, to Harold and Nora Leber. She passed away on June 10, 2026 from the long-standing effects of Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Union, New Jersey, Beverly graduated in 1952 from Union High School. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 2016 and her parents and grandparents. According to her dear friend, Anita Pirkle, she was an only child who was close to her parents, spending many summers at their summer home in Spring Lake, New Jersey. Beverly and her closest friends attended their 50th High School Reunion together; Pat Kamermayer, Anita Pirkle and Roberta.

She became my Godmother at my christening in July 1959 in New York City. Throughout my youth, she was part of our family. I recall her presence on every special occasion, including birthdays and holidays. To me she became "Aunt Bev", always loving and kind. When I married, she gifted my wife and I with beautiful hand blown glass Christmas ornaments that adorned our Christmas tree unbroken for over 40 years.

My memories of Aunt Bev and Uncle Norm recall them sitting at my parents' home with my parents and laughing into the night at the dining room table. I distinctively remember their contagious laughter that filled the room with unmistakable giggles, never heard since. Beverly was a cat lover and although she had no children of her own, she would send special cards with names of their cats.

She and my Uncle Norm traveled together around the world on TWA to Europe. She loved to shop for things for her home and garden. They bought the home of their dreams in Short Hills, New Jersey. When her mother became ill, Beverly retired and they sold their home to take care of her mom, then later to take care of her husband before he passed.

She devoted many years to working for the Episcopal Archdioceses of Newark and the Bishop. She also served on the Executive Council for the Episcopal Church Center, New York in the 1980's. She was a true patriot and community member who loved the flag and the freedom it stood for. 

A special thanks to Beverly's neighbors, Rosario and Edwin who were present in her life for several years, when she was declining. They helped her with meals, cleaning, transportation and shopping as she was unable to care for herself. It was their influence and the lifeline needed to connect Beverly to the care she required before leaving her home and me becoming her guardian.

Beverly spent the last four years of her life at Arbor Terrace in Mountainside, New Jersey. There she received excellent care from numerous caregivers, who cared for her like family. We owe our thanks to many. A special thanks to Dee at the front desk; she was our main point of contact at the facility, Maryam in Sales and Nicholas in Administration. They were incredibly important in helping us to navigate care needs for Beverly. A special thanks to Kathy her Physical Therapist who became an advocate and looked out for her well-being like a friend when we couldn't be there. Hospice care kept Beverly comfortable in the end. We are indebted to Sharon, the Hospice RN who updated us every day in the end. She and Louisiana were a gift who provided unwavering care in the final days of her life. 

Beverly spoke many thoughts in her final months. The most endearing was recently when she looked at me and said "Thank you and I love you too, sweetheart". In closing, I would like to say it has been an honor and privilege to care for this dear sweet lady for the last several years and through COVID! I learned from her life about sacrifices she made for her family. A special thanks to my loving wife, Angie who made it possible for me to assist Aunt Bev throughout the years, especially in the last few when I needed her the most. 

A private service will be held at June 17, 2026 at Galante Funeral Home with burial following at Hollywood Park Cemetery in Union, next to her mother and father based on her last wishes. Uncle Norm, a navy veteran will have his ashes scattered to sea aboard a naval vessel, later this year.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation for Beverly on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 9:00am to 10:00am at Galante Funeral Home located at 2800 Morris Avenue in Union. A prayer service will be held from 10:00am to 10:30am.

Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park at 11:00am located at 1500 Stuyvesant Avenue in Union.
