Betty L. Cifelli

Betty L. Cifelli, 93 of Newark passed away on  September 2, 2026.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass for Betty at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 259 Oliver St. Newark on Thursday September 10 at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Galante Funeral Home. 

Born in Newark, Betty was a lifelong Ironbound resident. She worked as a secretary for the NJ Department of Transportation for many years prior to her retirement. A talented opera singer with a beautiful voice, Betty was a kind and angelic presence to all that knew and loved her. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Friends remember the good deeds that Betty did for others, and that she never had a bad word to say about anyone.

The daughter of the late John and Lillian Riggio, Betty was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. "Bo" Cifelli. She was the loving mother of Thomas Cifelli and his wife Melissa and John Cifelli and his wife SallyAnn. She was the dear grandmother of Samantha Skilling and her husband Daniel, Joseph Cifelli and John Cifelli; and adoring great-grandmother of Lily and Daisy. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Riggio and by her sister Sadie Caravello, and is also survived by her sister-in-law Dolores Riggio.
