Bertha Magella Dominique, 94, of Union, passed away on October 8, 2021 at Overlook Medical Center.
Born in Leogane, a city located at approximately one hour from Port-Au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, Bertha Dominique spent most of her time in her hometown. At an early age, she met the man of her life and soon after they got married. From that union, she gave birth to seven children: Harry, Dady, Tinest, Ti-Georges, Rose Andree, Carline and Roudy who provided them with a total of 18 grandchildren. In 1969, she moved to Port Au-Prince to help her children pursue their education. In 1984 she emigrated to the USA and lived in New Jersey.
Family and respect for god occupied a prominent place in her life. She instilled in us the sense of responsibility and the value of education. She was a passionate Catholic who believed in traditional family values. She enjoyed listening to music and loved to dance. She went through a lot of adversities but she embraced and welcomed everyone around her. She was not resentful.
An exemplary woman , caring and tireless mother, Bertha always distinguished herself by displaying a great sense of hospitality and a kind understanding she exhibited towards everyone. Her blameless and irreproachable conduct in all circumstances acquired her esteem and trust from everyone. She always went above and beyond to please other people and make them feel better.
Unfortunately, the loss of our loved ones is one of the hardships and ordeals we must endure and cope with in this life. Thus, on October 8th , 2021, God decided to bring her home after spending 94 years on this earth and a full religious life.
Many memories invade our minds. Life goes on with its joys and sorrows. Unfortunately you will not be here but your memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew you.
Rest in peace Ti Berthe!!
