Benigno A. Polanco

Benigno A. Polanco, 94 of Union passed away on November 15, 2025.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Benigno at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Tuesday November 18 from 5-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church in Union on Wednesday November 19 at 10:15 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Benigno immigrated to New York in 1965 and lived there for many years before moving to Union four years ago. He was a dedicated custodian for many years prior to his retirement. Benigno loved and respected music, and was a talented guitar player. He also cherished time spent playing cards. Above all, Benigno was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his treasured family.

Benigno was the beloved husband of Aida (Pantaleon) Polanco; loving father of Ellison Polanco, Yvette Salcedo and her husband Max, Jacqueline Polanco, Oneida Polanco, Joseph Polanco and his wife Yuberkis and the late Daniela Disla. He was the dear grandfather of 14, and adoring great-grandfather of eight. Benigno was also the brother of Ceneida Salcedo, and father-in-law of Nelson Disla. He was predeceased by his brothers Vidal Polanco and Emilio Polanco.
