Anthony (Tony) Pepe

Anthony (Tony) Pepe, 89, of Broomfield, CO, died on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his daughter’s home.  He was the loving husband to Matilda (Ruggerio) for 64 wonderful years. Tony was born on 8/20/1932 in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy to the late Pietro & Pasqualina Pepe

He immigrated to the U.S. as an early teenager to follow the American Dream. Tony was the owner of Pepe’s Italian Specialties on Main Street in Millburn, NJ, where he proudly served the Italian community, who came to buy the best Italian groceries in the area. Tony was in the Italian specialty food industry for most of his adult life, until his specialty shop closed due to a fire. Afterwards he worked as a butcher for Kings Supermarket for over 10 years until retiring at the “old age of 55".

After retirement, Tony & Matilda relocated to Four Seasons, an Active Adult Community in Lakewood, NJ where they met and made many wonderful friends, Tony had a passion for golf & enjoyed playing every chance he could. He was an avid bowler, as well as a tournament bocce ball player. He was a member of the Italian American Club and a parishioner of Saint Dominic's Roman Catholic Church. Tony & Matilda enjoyed traveling and have taken many memorable trips. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Tony is survived by his wife, Matilda and children, daughter, Lina Fedynyshyn (Michael), son, Peter (Jean) and his beautiful grandchild, who he loved with all his heart, Anthony (Annie), Matthew, Kyra & Erika. As well as many nieces & nephews.

Tony is predeceased by his sister, Maria LaVecchia and nephew, Enzo LaVecchia, Tony always referred to life & death as "The Circle of Life". His circle is now complete and he will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Galante Funeral Home. A visitation will take place on Friday, March 11th, 2022, at Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083 from 3PM to 7PM EST. Also, at Galante, a service will take place on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, at 10AM EST, followed immediately by a burial service at St. Teresa Cemetery, 136 Passaic Avenue Summit, NJ.
