Anthony Caponigro

Anthony Caponigro passed away on July 26, 2025.

Born and raised in Newark, Anthony spent the majority of his life in Irvington, where he created a lasting impact on those around him. He was known for his hardworking spirit and dedication to his career, having first worked for 23 years at Lehigh Warehouse in Port Newark. Anthony then joined Port Newark Refrigeration as a Warehouseman, serving from 1975 until his retirement in 1998. His commitment to his profession was further exemplified by his membership in the ILA 1478-2 Port Newark.

Anthony is survived by his family, including his sons, Anthony J and his wife Heidi, and John A and his wife Katrina. He is also survived by his sister, Josie Maisto. He was a proud grandfather to Monica, Anthony, and John, and a great-grandfather to Damien and Bella.

Anthony was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (née Nobrega), along with his brother Thomas and sister Susie Funicello.

A visitation will be held at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue in Union, NJ on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM as well as Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will then be conducted, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park at 1500 Stuyvesant Ave in Union, NJ.
