Alphonse T. Faiella, 82 of Manalapan passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2023.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Alphonse at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Wednesday June 14 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church in Springfield on Thursday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.
Born in Newark, Alphonse was a longtime Union resident until moving to Lavallette in 2011, and finally to Manalapan two years ago. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the US Army for two years before being honorably discharged. Alphonse was a shop steward at Maher Terminals in Port Elizabeth for ILA Local 1 for 54 years, retiring in 2012. Alphonse enjoyed gardening, and days at the beach. Above all, he treasured time spent partying with friends and family.
The son of the late Dominick and Florence Faiella, and son-in-law of the late John and Lena August, Alphonse was the beloved husband of 61 years to Annette Faiella, with whom he had been with since they were 13 years old, and was his soulmate. He was the loving father of Thomas Faiella and his wife Kristine, Michael Faiella and his wife Allyson and Michelle Marzarella and her husband James. He was the cherished poppy of Nicole Faiella (Oliver Parsons), Alyssa Becker (Alex), Alexa Marshall (Chuck), James P. Marzarella, Madison Faiella, Mackenzie Faiella and Nicolas Faiella, and great-grandpoppy of Christian James Becker. He was the dear brother of Ronald Faiella and his wife Anne and brother-in-law of John Augusta and his wife Linda. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and by his furry friend Cody "Mama".
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
