Allen L. Lawrence, a lifelong resident of Caldwell, New Jersey, passed away on March 26, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born in Fairfield, Mr. Lawrence dedicated his working life to the community he called home. His career was marked by steadfast commitment and dedication, serving as a machine operator for the West Caldwell Department of Public Works for more than 40 years before retiring. 

Mr. Lawrence also served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge on July 31, 1965.

Known for his steadfast loyalty and deep devotion, Allen was an extremely devoted husband to his late wife, Joan A. Lawrence (nee Hyer). Though she preceded him in death, his love for Joan maintained a defining part of his character throughout his remaining years.

Allen was a man of varied interests and passions beyond his professional life. He found joy in riding his Harley motorcycle and was well known among family and friends for his skill and enthusiasm in his workshop that was affectionately known as "Pop's Garage."

He is survived by several cousins who held him in high regard: Jim, Mary Beth Byrne, Ken, Eileen, and Joe Caldeira, along with many loving friends and neighbors who appreciated his companionship. He will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation for Allen on Tuesday, March 31st from 10:00am to 11:30am, at Galante Funeral Home located at 54 Roseland Ave in Caldwell. A prayer service will take place at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery located at 40 Thomas Street in Caldwell.
