Alidia J. Salazar, 97 of Union, formerly of Jersey City passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Alidia at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Saturday January 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM and 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a funeral service to be celebrated at 6:00 PM. Cremation will be held privately.
Born in Odiongan, Romblon, Philippines, Alidia immigrated to New York City with her family in 1974, and settled as a longtime Jersey City resident in 1976. She proudly worked as a teacher while living in the Philippines, and achieved a great accomplishment when she became a nurse's aid, serving at Cabrini Medical Center in New York for 20 years, until her retirement many years ago.
Alidia was a dedicated member of the Union Community Bible Church, and enjoyed reading and studying the bible. She also kept her mind sharp by doing crossword puzzles. Alidia and her late husband cherished time spent traveling, and had fond memories of trips to Europe and Scandinavia. She most treasured time spent caring for her family, and they always looked forward to her delicious Chicken and Pork Adobo, and Pancit.
Alidia was the beloved wife of the late Renato Salazar, DDS; loving mother of Alrey J. Salazar and his wife Pia, Jolly Roy J. Salazar and his wife Julie and Jana Jean S. Cortez and her husband Noel. She was the dear grandmother of Christian, Sarah, Joshua, Marcus, Patrick and Aisa; and adoring great-grandmother of Ayla and Esme. She was also the sister of Judith Carillo, Josephine Formilleza, Dr. Armi Jesalva, Loreto Fajarito, Ruth Ang, and the late Aly Frances Villaresis and Osrox F. Jesalva.
The family would like to thank Alidia's devoted caregivers Epi Apuhin and Susan Garrido, for their dedication to her health and the beautiful friendship they shared throughout the years.
