Alex M. Astone, 93 of Union passed away on October 21, 2019.

The funeral from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union on Thursday at 9:15  AM. Funeral Mass at St Michaels Church in Union at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth. Visitation on Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM.

Born in Newark, Alex lived in Union for the past 63 years. He was an engineer at Western Electric, later AT&T in Newark for over 30 years before retiring. Alex served in the US Army, and assisted the Japanese Civilian Police in securing Japan after WWII ended. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America where he participated in charitable work.

Alex was the beloved husband of Catherine (nee Barrett) Astone;  loving father of Michael Astone and his wife Janice, Patrick Astone and his wife June, Catherine De Luca and her husband Michael, and the late Thomas Astone. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Roxanne, and was the dear brother of Sylvia Signorello, Josephine Cicero, and the late Gino, Victor, Italo, and Tina Astone. He was also the cherished grandfather of A.J., KateLynn, Laura and Bridget.
