Eugene Chiappetta, III, or Gene as he was known to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2022, in the presence of his family. He was 59 years old.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Gene at St. Philomena Church, 386 S. Livingston Ave., Livingston, NJ, on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:15 AM. Interment will be held privately. Arrangements are in the care of the Galante Funeral Home in Caldwell, NJ 973-226-1801.
Born in Newark, NJ, Gene grew up in Livingston, NJ and was a graduate of Newark Academy. Gene later earned his Bachelor's degree from Emory University, and his Master's degree at the University of South Carolina. Gene was a longtime resident of Charlotte, NC until later moving back to Livingston. He was the co-founder with his family of Cleer Oil Technology, LLC. Gene loved sports and was an avid fan of the New York Mets, the Carolina Panthers and the New York Rangers. Gene's most treasured times, however, were the times he spent with his loving niece and nephews.
Gene was a salt of the earth kind of guy who touched all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. Gene was the kindest and most generous person. Whatever anyone needed, no matter how big or small, Gene was always there without question to offer assistance or a solution. Gene was the type of person who would and did do anything for his family and friends. He had a heart of gold, a brilliant mind, and the most wonderful sense of humor. Nothing was more important to Gene than his family and his close circle of friends who were like family to him. He demonstrated this unwavering love and devotion to them everyday. A close friend recently referred to Gene as “an angel on Earth, who brightens the day everywhere he goes.” Now Heaven has gained this special angel.
Gene was the devoted son of Catherine Chiappetta and the late Dr. Eugene Chiappetta, MD. He was the best big brother to Robert Chiappetta and his wife Cathy and Lisa Cooper and her husband Adam. Gene was the most amazing uncle to his niece and nephews, Mary, Matthew, Will, Jack, Michael and Andrew, who all looked up to him and adored him.
